Privacy Policy

Introduction

Ayahfy ("we", "our", or "us") is a Quran verse recognition application that listens to audio recitations, identifies the Quranic verses being recited, and returns matched verses with translations and explanations in multiple languages.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use our mobile application on Android or iOS.

Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the core recognition service:

• Audio input: Short audio recordings captured when you tap the recognition button. These are sent to a third-party speech-to-text service (Groq / OpenAI Whisper) solely to transcribe the recitation. Audio is not stored by us.
• Transcribed text: The text output of the speech recognition is passed to an AI service (Anthropic Claude) to identify and match Quranic verses. This text is not linked to your identity.
• Language preference: Your selected display language (Arabic, English, Spanish, or Chinese) is stored locally on your device only.
• Cached content: Verse text, translations, and Tafsir explanations may be cached locally on your device to improve performance.

Microphone Permission

Ayahfy requests access to your device's microphone solely to capture audio for Quran verse recognition. The microphone is only active when you explicitly initiate a recognition session by pressing the listen button. We do not record audio in the background.

How We Use Information

• To transcribe your audio recitation into text
• To identify and match the recited Quranic verses
• To retrieve and display verse translations and Tafsir explanations
• To remember your language preference between sessions

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the recognition service.

Third-Party Services

Ayahfy relies on the following third-party services to function. Each has its own privacy practices:

• Groq (Whisper large-v3) — Speech-to-text transcription. Audio is processed transiently and not retained. See Groq Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (Claude API) — Verse matching and Tafsir generation. See Anthropic Privacy Policy.
• AlQuran.cloud / Quran.com APIs — Retrieval of Quranic text and translations. These are public Islamic content APIs.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party for marketing purposes.

Children's Privacy

Ayahfy is designed to be a safe, educational tool suitable for all ages, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any user, including children under 13. Since no account creation or personal data entry is required, the app is safe for use by minors under parental guidance.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Data Retention & Security

We do not maintain a backend database of user data. Audio and transcription data are processed in real time and not retained by Ayahfy's systems. Any data stored locally on your device (language preference, cached verse content) remains under your control and can be cleared by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in your device settings.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS).

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions or concerns about any data processed through our third-party services, you may contact us and we will do our best to assist.

Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. As we collect no personal data, these rights are automatically honored by design.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
